golden hour portraits of chase and buddy while on the perfect picnic. it was a feast for the eyes more than anything, thanks to the most gorgeous light and setting.

please enjoy this musical accompaniment to these photos:
"Where Summer Goes" by Peter and the Wolf

these were taken on one of the last beach sunsets of what i consider the best summer of my life.  if there had been a back track, this song would be it.

self(s) portrait as a diner waitress

early assignment for a photography class a few years back that i still find rather amusing. it's got its glitches and is in no way seamless {i've never considered myself much of a wiz with that program} but conceptually i still dig it.

my neighbor's altar

35 mm double exposure
Neighbor's Window/Grayton Beach, FL
Tallahassee, FL/ Santa Rosa Beach, FL

all my double exposure images are completely coincidental overlaps of images. my not-so-fancy-method includes shooting an entire roll of film, rewinding back to "1", and then shooting completely over the first roll {p.s. if you're interested in trying this, contact me as there's a little more to it than just that and i want you to have double exposure success!} i particularly enjoy this method because of the element of surprise each time i pick my images up from the drug store. even if a roll is mostly unsuccessful, there will always be those few images that make it completely worth it.

this image is one of those for me. at first glance it doesn't look like two images, but upon closer observation you begin to decipher a stretching beach landscape along the bottom.

water haunts {continued}

Digital images
Wakulla Springs
Wakulla, FL

these images taken on jackie's digital camera on the same day as the images from the previous post. The gorgeous and somewhat eery ghost quality comes from where her camera didn't capture light information from the figures.

these images inspired a series with more installations to come this summer [and possibly before that!]

my beautiful roommate, friend, and female model of favor in an image that epitomizes our dream summer 2010

wise beyond her years

(this image currently serves as the dreamy tile background on my desktop...sorry john mann, i know middle gray is the only thing i should be editing or observing images against)

i still can't get over the fact that this girl is the same age as me! her work inspires me on so many levels and i find something new to love each time i browse her impeccably designed website {totally referencing this thing when i finally make mine!} check that link and be amazed for yourself at the simple, ethereal feelings she encapsulates again and again in both color, b & w, and (gasp!) double exposure.

i'm in love.

i first saw this quote in the image below:

i love its message and figured it's a truth we could all use a reminder of now and again.

drift wood trees

 my father collects driftwood and lines the screen porch and winding trails of our home with his twisted wooden finds. these dead trees remind me of his treasures in some way.

anyone with a mind like mine will tell you that there are certain special places that, for years, become a beautiful image in your mind until that one day you decide to take the time and pull off to one side of the road, just holding your breath with a small prayer for a steady hand.

this house is my photographic repeat offender (at least for the time and place being). i'm not exactly sure what enamors it in my eyes, but for some reason i keep going back.

william eggleston {the master of color}

if you don't love him already, you should.

his ability to liven even the most mundane of subjects into an image that relates so viscerally with his audience makes him muse-worthy (at least to me!) no doubt due his brilliant use of color.
